About me

A different perspective.

I write about power, history, strategy and possible worlds. I'm drawn to stories where a single decision, structure or idea can change the fate of a person, a country or an entire civilization.

A "langreano" through and through. From a young age I was drawn to History, economics, Law and the mechanisms that explain how societies are organized, how power is built and how certain decisions can alter the course of millions of lives.

My professional career took me through financial advising, the insurance sector, business management and team leadership. That path let me observe firsthand how organizations really work and how people behave when pressure, ambition, fear or uncertainty come into play.

I never stopped writing. The difference is that now I've decided to do it continuously and professionally. My books come from a mix of curiosity, analysis and narrative passion: fiction, essay, geopolitics, alternate history, strategy and impossible worlds that could feel real.

I was officially born at Hospital Valle del Nalón, although my parents quickly made sure to take me the very next day to Campo la Carrera, in Langreo (Asturias), where I grew up throughout my childhood and adolescence.

It's a very small village, the kind where stories pass down from generation to generation and where you quickly learn to observe people, their ways of thinking, and how their surroundings end up shaping everyone's lives. It sits atop a small hill called Picu la Cerra, a place from which, without realizing it, I probably started looking at the world with a certain perspective.

Campo la Carrera, Langreo, Asturias
Campo la Carrera, the place where I grew up and where my way of looking at the world began.

From a very young age I was especially drawn to History and economics. I remember spending hours listening to stories about the Roman Empire, World War II, or the great political transformations of the late 80s and early 90s.

But beyond the events themselves, what truly fascinated me was understanding how societies were organized, how power was built, and how certain decisions could change the fate of millions of people. I think that obsession with understanding the mechanisms that move the world ends up showing up, one way or another, in all my books.

Writing was always there, even when it took a back seat.

From a young age I knew I wanted to study Law. I was drawn to the idea of understanding the rules, structures and mechanisms that hold up modern societies. However, during those years I also began to feel a certain fascination — almost envy — for mathematics.

That curiosity also led me toward the world of economics and finance. Thanks to the first company I worked for, I had the chance to take a Master's in Finance at the University of Deusto, broadening a background that would go on to deeply influence both my professional life and the way I understand the world.

My first jobs were related to financial advising and later to the insurance sector. Later on I built my career in business management and leadership, an environment that let me observe firsthand how organizations really function, how decisions are made under pressure, and how people behave when interests, fear, ambition or uncertainty come into play.

Over time I discovered that one of the things that motivated me most was helping people develop their potential, getting the best out of the teams I led, and delivering real solutions to clients. That human side ended up mattering far more to me than I imagined when I started my career.

Today, that whole journey has led me to the healthcare sector, where I continue leading teams while also helping people improve their lives every day.

I never stopped writing. The difference is that now I've decided to do it continuously and professionally.

First on a personal blog — sadly gone now — where I wrote about historical curiosities, geopolitics and some of the subjects that obsessed me at the time. Writing was always there, even in periods when it took a back seat.

Over the years I built up dozens of ideas, drafts, half-finished novels and small notes with concepts for future stories. At some point I realized that if I really wanted to become a writer, I had to stop "picking at" projects and start finishing them. That's why I decided to impose some discipline on myself and commit to publishing at least one complete work every year.

My books come from a mix of curiosity, analysis and narrative passion.

My books come precisely from that mix of curiosity, analysis and narrative passion. Some of my works lean toward geopolitics and contemporary history; others explore dystopian futures, alternate universes or impossible scenarios. Although the themes may seem very different from one another, they all share the same philosophy: writing the books I myself would have loved to find as a reader.

I'm especially interested in stories where the individual faces structures far bigger than themselves: states, systems, ideologies, wars, corporations or even entire civilizations. I think that's precisely where the most interesting questions about freedom, identity, power, survival and human nature emerge.

When I write, I try to combine entertainment, depth and a strong sense of realism. I'm obsessive about research, detail and the internal consistency of every work.

I'm currently developing new projects related to science fiction, alternate history, geopolitics and strategic essay writing, always with the same idea I started writing with years ago: creating stories and books capable of sparking in other readers the same fascination I felt when I discovered certain subjects for the first time.

12 books that made me want to write

Some books don't just entertain. Some change the way you see History, power, science, imagination and human nature. These twelve are part of how I understand writing.

Decisive Moments in History

Stefan Zweig

History understood as a chain of small moments capable of changing entire civilizations.

I think this was the book that sparked my passion for alternate history, even though it isn't really about that. Zweig showed how gigantic historical events could turn on a small detail, a mistake, or a decision made a few seconds earlier or later.

The book that made me obsessed with the idea of applying mathematics and logic to human behavior.
